Having an open house during the Holiday Season? Here's a few tips
December 12, 2014

'Tis the Season!

If during the holiday season you have been able to find the time to have an open house the following ideas will not only bring the holidays into the home but will bring the spirit
of the season to the potential home buyer as they stroll through the house envisioning the home during the holidays with their family and friends.

1. Decorate the front entry way with a string of lights around the front door and a beautiful holiday wreath right in the center. Add a couple of Poinsettias on either side of the
door and maybe throw in a holiday mat for the entry way.

2. Have some holiday music playing in the background. Who can resist Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas"?

3. Offer a plate of delicious holiday cookies. I love the peanut butter cookies with the big Hershey Kiss in the center. I provided the recipe for this one:

1 1/4 cup Flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tbls milk
1 tsp vanilla
Hersey Kisses unwrapped

Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set Aside
Beat butter and peanut butter until fluffy. Add sugars and beat until smooth. Add egg and mix well now add the milk and the vanilla and mix. Add the flour mixture and beat
until smooth. Sprinkle tablespoon of sugar onto a plate and set aside. Make small rounded balls of cookie dough and roll onto the plate of sugar to lightly coat each ball. Add
balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and back at 350 degrees for 10-12 mins. While cookies are still slightly warm add a Hershey Kiss into the center of each cookie smashing the
cookie down a bit.

4. Add a few more Poinsettias sporadically throughout the house.

There you have it. 4 easy steps to bringing the Holidays into your open house. Enjoy the cookies!
